Online Once Playtime Casino Kelowna Closes

When Playtime Casino Kelowna and Chances Casino Kelowna have both closed for the night, online play is what remains on the list. Here the province sets its own rules for it, centred on PlayNow.com, the online gambling site that BCLC runs for British Columbia.

The law in plain words

In British Columbia, gambling, casinos included, is legal from age 19. The province runs its own online gambling site, PlayNow.com, through BCLC.

Oversight of gambling in B.C. falls to the province's Independent Gambling Control Office (IGCO). In its words, PlayNow.com is the sole commercial online gambling website that is regulated and allowed to run in B.C. The IGCO says any other online gambling site taking B.C. players is operating illegally in the province. This leaves anyone in Kelowna with few options once both floors have closed.

Chances and scam sites

Chances Casino Kelowna states that no online casino of its own has launched. It also cautions players about fraudulent sites trading on its name. Any site using the Chances name is not the casino on Springfield Road. The real website is chanceskelowna.ca, and the phone number is 250-860-9577.

Self-exclusion, on and off the floor

Game Break is a voluntary self-exclusion program operated by BCLC. It covers B.C. casinos and PlayNow.com alike. Once an enrollee settles on 1, 2 or 3 years or 6 months, there is no changing that term later. Enrolling takes a trip to any casino with government-issued photo ID in hand; each B.C. casino has a GameSense Advisor as well.

The Ad links and who pays

Only the guide's home page carries paid links; no other page has any. Each is marked Ad. Their places are the menu, the spot under the first screen and the stretch toward the page's end. Every one of them leads to a single private online casino partner, which pays a commission to the desk.

This guide does not name the partner, and the partner can change. It is separate from PlayNow.com and is not connected to either casino, Gateway or BCLC. The statement from the IGCO on other sites that take B.C. players appears above.

Requests from the floor

  1. 01Who operates PlayNow.com?

  2. 02Is PlayNow.com part of a Game Break term?

Yes, a Game Break term also covers PlayNow.com, BCLC's online site, as well as the casino floors. Whether the enrollee picks 3 years, 2 years, 1 year or 6 months, that term stays fixed from the moment it is set.

No, Chances Casino Kelowna says it has not launched an online casino. It warns that scam sites use its name.
